Our Commitment to Child Safety at Myka Place

At Myka Place, the safety, wellbeing and rights of every child are our highest priority. We are committed to providing a safe, respectful and nurturing environment where children feel protected, valued and heard at all times.
 
Our child safety approach is aligned with the National Child Safe Principles (Australia) and is embedded across our governance, service delivery and organisational culture. We recognise that children with disability may experience increased vulnerability, and we take a proactive, trauma-informed and rights-based approach to safeguarding.

Safe Recruitment & Screening
 
All staff, contractors and volunteers engaged at Myka Place undergo comprehensive screening prior to commencement, including:
 
  • NDIS Worker Screening Check
  • Working With Children Check (WWCC)
  • National Police Clearance
  • 395 Check (held by the majority of our workforce)
  • Reference checks

All clearances are verified, recorded and monitored for currency as part of our ongoing compliance and governance processes.
 
Training, Supervision & Culture
 
Our team receives ongoing training in:
 
  • Child safe practices
  • Trauma-informed and disability-aware care
  • Positive Behaviour Support principles
  • Mandatory reporting and incident response
 
Staff are actively supervised, supported and held accountable to uphold the highest standards of care.
