Our Organisation

Myka Place is owned and operated by Ability in Disability Pty Ltd, a registered NDIS provider.
 
Ability in Disability holds NDIS registration and governance responsibility for all supports delivered through ability in Disability being Myka Place. This means our respite and disability supports operate under the NDIS Practice Standards, with robust compliance, safeguarding, and quality systems in place.
 
We are proud to deliver services that are safe, transparent, and built around the needs of families.

Our Sister Organisation-Kalon Meraki

Kalon Meraki is a sister company to Ability in Disability.
 
Kalon Meraki provides:
 
  • In-home complex and high-intensity supports
  • Clinical and nursing care
  • Department of Education in-school health contracts
  • Allied health services
  • In-home care planning and nursing assessments
  • NDIS review assessment reports
  • Disability consumables
 
While the two organisations collaborate closely, they operate as separate entities with independent service agreements and systems.

Why We Work Hand in Hand

We understand the importance of aligned supports especially for families navigating complex disability or high medical needs.
 
Too often, families experience fragmented services, gaps in communication, and inconsistent care. Our collaborative structure was created to reduce that fragmentation while still protecting your rights and independence.
 
For many families, without integrated and responsive supports, there would be limited or no access to safe services. We have seen firsthand how aligned supports can reduce crisis, restore stability, and change lives.
 
Our structure exists to strengthen families not diminish them.

Under NDIS guidelines, providers may deliver multiple services across related entities. However, participant choice and control must always remain central.
 
We take this responsibility seriously.
 
We have a formal Conflict of Interest Declaration in place to ensure that:
 
  • You are fully informed of our organisational relationships
  • You are never required to use both organisations
  • Access to one service is never conditional on using another
  • Alternative provider options are always available
  • You are supported to make independent decisions
  • Your funding and goals guide service recommendations — not business interests

Purpose
 
This declaration outlines how Ability in Disability Pty Ltd and its sister company, Kalon Meraki, identify, disclose, and manage actual, perceived, or potential conflicts of interest.
 
We are committed to protecting participant choice and control, ensuring transparency, and upholding ethical service delivery in accordance with the NDIS Act 2013 and NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission Practice Standards.

Our Commitment

We recognise that delivering multiple types of services across related entities may create actual or perceived conflicts of interest.
 
We are committed to ensuring that:
 
  • Participant rights are always prioritised
  • Choice and control are never compromised
  • Referrals are transparent and voluntary
  • Services are never conditional upon using a related entity
  • Participants are supported to access alternative providers if preferred

Organisational Relationship

Ability in Disability Pty Ltd is a registered NDIS provider and operates Myka Place.
 
Kalon Meraki is a separate, sister organisation that provides in-home complex support, nursing, allied health services, school health supports, care planning, and disability consumables.
 
While the two organisations collaborate to support families, they operate as separate entities with independent service agreements, invoicing systems, and governance processes.

What Constitutes a Conflict of Interest

A conflict of interest may arise where:
 
• A participant receives services from both organisations
• A referral is made between Ability in Disability and Kalon Meraki
• An assessment completed by one entity informs services delivered by the other
• Financial or business interests could influence service recommendations
 
Conflicts may be:
 
• Actual – Direct conflict exists
• Perceived – It may appear a conflict exists
• Potential – A conflict could arise in the future
 
All three are treated seriously ensuring we meet compliance requirements at all times.

How We Manage Conflicts of Interest

1. Full Disclosure
 
Participants are informed in writing when services involve related entities. The relationship between organisations is clearly explained.
 
2. Voluntary Engagement
 
Participants are never required to use both organisations. Access to respite, in-home support, assessments, or consumables is not conditional.
 
3. Independent Options
 
Participants are provided with information about alternative providers where appropriate and are encouraged to seek independent advice if desired.
 
4. Separate Service Agreements
 
Each organisation issues its own:
 
  • Service Agreement
  • Schedule of Supports
  • Invoice
  • Documentation
 
Financial and operational systems remain separate.
 
5. Documentation & Review
 
Any identified conflict of interest is:
 
  • Documented in the participant file
  • Discussed with the participant or nominee
  • Monitored by management
 
6. Governance Oversight
 
Ability in Disability maintains internal oversight processes to ensure:
 
  • Ethical referral practices
  • Compliance with NDIS Practice Standards
  • Protection of participant decision-making rights
  • No duplication of funded supports
 
Protection of Choice and Control
 
Participants maintain the right to:
 
  • Choose their service providers
  • Decline referrals
  • Change providers at any time
  • Request independent information
  • Make complaints without fear of disadvantage
